SPECIAL NEEDS - Monday evening.
A €150,000 Capital Sports Grant was approved & transferred from our old IHCSC Club near HILL 16 to our new NH&CPCC Club and much of which was for our special needs was shamefully not drawn down. A GAA director of our new Club the National Handball & Croke Park Community Centre ("NH&CPCC") stated to the Board of the new Centre that the GAA would provide funds to enable drawdown of the grant. This did not happen. On the other hand, the GAA retained all the monies they received from the rental of the new Centre to the HSE during Covid-19, money which could have otherwise been used to commence purchasing the approved equipment and draw down of the capital grant. It should be noted that the grant was originally awarded to the old IHCSC club in 2003 but objected to by the GAA then, but through various interventions by TD's in the Dail was kept available right through to 2020 before being transferred to our new Centre. The Croke Park GAA had their paws out for well in excess of a €100m of Taxpayers money for the building of Croke Park but objected to our community receiving €150,000 of a grant for our Club.
Mondays & Tuesdays Closed from 9.00pm
Quite disgracefully and purposely our Club has been closed by 9.00pm every Monday and Tuesday. This prevents the Club being available to our older members 7 night a week as our old IHCSC Club used to be. Preventing the Community from having their Club be a place to relax, feel safe, and enjoy themselves 7 night a week seems to suit the Croke Park GAA just fine.
